The latest release from the Spirit of Gravity netlabel comes from Noteherder. Entitled shraddha, it is a selection of delicate improvisations for piano and reeds. Noteherder is Chris Parfitt, a long time member of the whirr and skronk duo Noteherder & McCloud; also part of the duo Nil with Dan Powell, and one-third of PSANK with Kev Nickells and Al Strachan.

A one-time Brighton resident recently relocated to Porthcawl, Chris is currently working with the Improvisers Network Wales developing theory and practice of free musical improvisation. A founder of New Interpretations Orchestra, Chris plays Soprano Sax, Piano, flute on this release.
“This is improvised music, the importance of playing improvised music to me is to be in the moment. To know what is happening to me at that moment, to try not to hold on to the past and to try not to anticipate the future. To have faith in myself. These are solo moments cut from an extraordinary time”, says Chris.
