20th Anniversary release March 2021

For the latest 20th Anniversary release, we have raided the vaults and gone back to 2006, when members of The Spirit of Gravity collective remixed works by Henry Collins, aka Shitmat. The source files were from unfinished and now lost works from one of Shitmat’s knackered old hard drives: hence the arresting title of The hard drive cessation termination: Shitmat remixed.

Continuing to celebrate the 20 years since the first Spirit of Gravity show on 17th January 2001, this was the second Spirit of Gravity compilation CD, compiled by Steve Gillitt to give away at our 2 day festival at the Free Butt on 7th and 8th December 2002 – featuring Spirit of Gravity alumni such as Waxed Apple, Sh*tmat and Stendec (Rashamon), along with Monster Bobby and Urban Myth.

The year 2021 marks the twentieth birthday of Spirit of Gravity – our first show was on 17 January 2001 – and to celebrate this anniversary year we’ll be doing some special releases, and hopefully some special events too, later in the year.

The first of release is this re-issue of our first compilation CD, featuring tracks by early members of the collective. Among those featured are Henry ‘Shitmat’ Collins (as Audio Restoration and among the So Whitehawk Crew), Chris ‘Same Actor’ Cook (as Remote), Geoff ‘McCloud’ Cheesemaster and Tony ‘I’m Dr Buoyant’ Malevich’ – also included is a track donated by friend of the Gravity Scanner.

At the time this came out, it took around twenty minutes to download a single track using a dial-up modem. Consider that, as you effortlessly stream or download the album here:
