20th Anniversary release June 2021

The third Spirit of Gravity compilation came out in 2003 and featured seven eponymous tracks by collective members Christian & Roland, Caleb, Chris, Nick & Tony, Lee, Henry, and Steve. Originally issued on CD, it was released to coincide with the City of Gravity multi-venue festival we ran that year across Brighton.

20th Anniversary commemorative release: Elliptical Orbits

Released to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Spirit of Gravity as a promoter of experimental and electronic music in Brighton, Hove and beyond, this collection offers a beguiling cross-section of the interesting stuff we’ve been putting on these past two decades. The selection represents acts who have appeared throughout the 20 years, and reflects both the high quality and wide variety of music produced during this time. New and old tracks are featured, including a Nick Langley track on which he has been working since 1997, the first Monster Bobby material to be released for more than 5 years, and the first from Same Actor for 3 years. The compilation includes a plethora of exclusive tracks, including unreleased material from Gagarin and Scanner.

6th May netlabel release

‘Works from home’ is the latest release from Andrew Greaves. It features five tracks produced, unusually for Andrew, purely as recordings and without regard to live performance (what with their being not a lot of opportunity for that of late). Some of the set is based on organ improvisations created during the first lockdown of 2020. The rest of the album comprises works from the winter of 2020-21, using spontaneous of analogue synth sequencing. Each piece was conceived, collaged, recorded and mixed in one hit.
