4th January at the Green Door Store: Rotten Bliss / Kayfabe / MSV FCK feat. Sarah Glendinning

Rotten Bliss
Weird folk, electric cello, voice and handmade instruments

Rotten Bliss is Jasmine Pender on Cello, vocals and electronics as she voyages through noise, weird folk, drone, blues, and sound collage, with traces of Nico, Laurie Anderson and Arthur Russell.

In 2017 Rotten Bliss played at the Supersonic Festival in Birmingham and Do Disturb festival at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
Jasmine Plays regularly as Rotten Bliss and in 11th Hour Adventists (with Jowe Head).

“A thing of disquieting dark beauty… hints of Nico chill with both a magical and macabre unease” – Mark Barton, The Sunday Experience “Jasmine’s spectres murmur at your shoulder… Jagged enormous shafts of maltreated cello rasp against the grain of her voice, alternately silky with longing and then jagged as flint” – Jowe Head (ex Swell Maps) “Dark and dreamy soundscapes, fragile and daring creatures of the night haunting legendary moors and lonely shores” – Anais Prosaic (Documentary maker, “Eliane Radigue – L’ecoute virtuose”)

Kayfabe
Tones & Words – Carl (Nil by Nose) and Lisa Jayne (Map 71)

Kayfabe have a standard blurb. Kayfabe is a sex act. If you think that’ll attract undesirables…

Plus last minute addition:
MSV FCK feat. Sarah Glendinning

Gravity Waves and the Spirit World

The next edition of the Spirit of Gravity radio show will be broadcast on Tuesday 5th December from 10.00pm to 12.00 on ResonanceExtra FM.

This month, the whole show will be given over to one piece:

requiem:c40 – A Sound Collage by Carl Slater – In Collaboration with Keith Harrison

On a dark night in September 2017 in a forest, in the midlands, in the rain, visual artist Keith Harrison launched a life size car made of clay, down a 10-metre high ramp to its destruction. The car was a replica of the last Rover 75 to roll off the production line at the Longbridge car plant, Birmingham. This month we are marking that event by dedicating the entire show to requiem:c40 – a sound collage made by Carl Slater in collaboration with Keith Harrison. The piece was first broadcast on Joyride FM, a temporary radio station set up in the forest to soundtrack the launch. Featuring fragments from documentary archives, white noise glitch, cartoon physics and terminal flatlines; the sound collage presents a social-historical framework of automotive manufacture and alternative readings of joyriding, dogging and car culture.

2nd November at the Green Door Store: Diamond Family Archive / Motherbox / Ahtuf KONTROL / I’m Dr Buoyant

The Diamond Family Archive
The Diamond Family Archive are an English lo-fi, psych-folk, multi-instrumentalist duo from The South Hams in Devon.
Live, The Diamond Family Archive craft a mesmeric live-show from drums, acoustic guitars, lots of FX pedals, keyboards set to drone, tape delay, loops and bellows, bows, harmonicas, cosmic harps, toys and broken cymbals. All coming together to create music which holds echos of post-rock, traditional folk, spiritual soul music, psychedelic rock and lo-fi. Foot-stomping, finger-picking, hollering vs pin-drop hush – fragile, lazy grace.

Motherbox
Brighton based synth/drum trio deliver eclectic experimental groove based sonic wisdoms and a new album to your ears. Two men play various analogue and modular synths while another shorter man drums along all whilst earnestly nodding. Eclectic electronic soundscapes with a dram of krautrock.

Ahtuf KONTROL
Dance and Radiophonics – return after a summer retreat in imagination. Another combination of emotion and vibration to see and feel.

I’m Dr Buoyant
Spirit of Gravity joint founder I’m Dr Buoyant turns out for a rare solo slot, get down early not to miss it. His set-up has been adjusted to give his live loop improvisations a somewhat darker tone, one might say in response to current world events, but probably just because it sounds good. Copies of the IDB and Ron Caines vinyl 7″ will be on sale.
