Gravity Waves and the Spirit World

The first hour features more recordings from the orbit of the Spirit of Gravity, including a track recorded around the time we started out featuring “American Jeff” and recorded in his office above our first venue 25 years ago. The second hour is dedicated to ‘Hard to Reach’, an extended piece produced for Gravity Waves by Christopher Simms. ‘Hard to Reach’ is an audio essay about Simms’ experience of growing up in care in Britain during the 1960s and 1970s. As a mixed-race child, Simms had to navigate multiple layers of loss, prejudice, and uncertainty while searching for a sense of identity within a care system that often lacked cultural understanding.
