Thursday 7th April at the Rossi Bar: Vera Bremerton / Muster / Zoom Around Rainbow

Vera Bremerton: Solo vox experimental extreme mayhem
Muster: Guitar, electronics, small objects
Zoom Around Rainbow: Slower then glaciers, Harder then ecological collapse

Italian-born Vera Bremerton is equally influenced by classical, industrial, techino and avantgarde music.  Counting Diamanda Galàs, Maria Callas and Meredith Monk among her muses, she uses different timbres, effects and a 4-octaves vocal range.
High-end musical skills in composition and performance, and theatricality in spades… sensitivity and subtlety even in the more violent sections. (Chrissie Caulfield, Radio Free Midwich) She’s half art-house horror movie queen, half cabaret torch singer, and her studied, arch delivery of precision-crafted melodramatic ballads… certainly commands attention (Michael Johnson, Nemesis To Go)

Muster is the improvising duo of James O’Sullivan (South London) and Dan Powell (Brighton). Having first worked together as part of the eight musicians who performed for twelve hours as The Long Half Day [see TSOKL sok052], they formed Muster accidentally on 2nd November 2016 in the Catford Constitutional Club. Their first album “Find a City to Live In” was released on Invisible City in 2019.

Kieran Mahon: Drones, loops and modulated sequences.

Martin Chick: Bleeps and tweaks for the rods and cones in your ears.

Kieran Mahon makes electronic music using a modular synth set up to create drones, loops and heavily modulated sequences. His set for Spirit of Gravity will be an improvised journey into kosmische and psychedelia.

R. Dyer uses saxophone, saw, harp, found sounds, tape samples, looped vocals and synth to create mesmerising baroque pop laced with chaotic improvisation.

Martin Chick – Modular bursts and clusters firing like sonic snipers targeting synaesthetic synapses; a strafe across your cranium  to jerk your limbs to life.

New release on the Spirit of Gravity netlabel: Washing Up Time

The Spirit of Gravity is continuing to pump out strange, unusual and inspired sounds via netlabel releases.

Washing Up Time is a 36-track compilation curated by Nil By Nose.

During the first lockdown, looking for ways to make a difference to the days, Nil By Nose started to livestream himself doing the washing up.
‘To keep things interesting for myself ’, he avers, ‘ I started to run the sound of the washing up though a Gechologic Loopsynth while I streamed. As I listened I noticed that the looping created interesting rhythms and textures.’

This prompted the idea of a collaborative project, using his audio as a base. The result is 36 astonishingly varied tracks – by some people who we know, and some who we
don’t – that will take you to some far-flung shores of electronica and experimentalia.

Stream and download the EP here on a pay-as-you-will basis: spiritofgravity.bandcamp.com/album/washing-up-time
