Electroacoustic delay
The much anticipated UK début of bemass, postponed from November along with other electronic and acoustic madness.
In Sand and T-toe.
In Sand is another of Gus Garside’s many aggregations. Gus on double bass, Richard Padley on guitar, Thor Magnussen on laptop and Danny Kingshill on Cello (missing Satoko Fukuda on violin on this occasion).
This being The Spirit of Gravity we played up the laptop slightly more than usual for this chamber quintet.
T-Toe is Terry, he plays trombone and laptop Coming from a more breakbeat background he showcased the trombone slightly more than usual.
I know the name of this tune!
bemass are Bela Emerson from Brighton and Magnus Alexanderson and Sten Sandell from Sweden. This was their first ever show in the UK and went to extremes in just about every way.

When the spirit of gravity was founded, round here it was all fields,
Wise words from Mr Nick Rilke of This Sound Bureaucracy, the electro-poetic rantings of the permanently sane.
Here is a rerun of an old live favourite, the first time we’ve managed to snag it for ourselves.

Ry-Om spent a while loading their laptops with guitar scrapes squeaks and squangles.
Then slowly let them escape to run around the room.

the snowy country of mental states
As you can imagine Xmas provides us all with a stressful opportunity to do something festive, no matter what we’re usually like.
So I’m Dr Buoyant Collected together loads of cheery Christmas samples and got together and made some spectacularly weird music. As you’d expect.
Then we had Don Tempi to show us how its done, TV Advertising from July 1981. Couldn’t be finer.
Only video of Don I’m afraid.
