Lighting effects

Posted on April 1, 2009 by admin

We had native lighting this, for various reasons, so it was a good job we had a ‘no laptop’ month. But there is still video footage if you scroll to the end.

Dancing up a storm with his 16bit raveups was DJ Meagre Sexy Drive:

Here is a little snatch of the soundtrack to his youth.

Following that up with a brief but wonderful set was D-Face. PArt of Super Mega Ultra Crew and fidgital.

Here is some beat and violin.

The finishing off with an epic set of sweep and analogy was Fronter Telegraph.

Here is a

small section of his set.

And cos he looks so nice in is WSB togs, here is Derek at the bar.

Plus bonus bits!

A journey through February sound

Starting with lots of space : reverbed pianos and field recordings and banging through to Hi density bangers.

Komuso, starting as a two piece , finishing as four had a musical journey of their own, and here is a bit of it.

Replaced by Gagarin, all on his ownsome, but making up for that with an increase in intensity and rhythm.

Heres some of his set with more rhythm and less tune that most, but I liked the clicky bits.

Then with a foot on the monitor and something of a bounce in the step, we rounded off with Urban Delights who unplugged my recorder so I have no mp3.

Still they are on myspace and I have some video below. . . .

The November Spirit of Gravity saw more guitars on stage than we usually get in a year, but were happy to keep welcoming back old friends by having Waxed Apple back for their only Brighton date in 2008.

We started the evening with Birmingham’s Concrete Belly. A nice mix of Sonic Youth guitar tunings, cheap drum boxers, bent toys and voice cutups.

Then some ranting electronic noise rock from Passiondale.

And finally local heroes Waxed Apple.

Videos start somehwere around here on the Vimeo page (no myspace videos this month -flat batteries in my camera!).

Just in case you thought it was all done with mirrors, here is a Bartosz eye view of how the live visuals work:

So the first act to play at the Komedia Theatre bar was a Bass off between Shige Ishihara and Henry Collins. Shige on mainly the SH101, Henry in his Slash’s Wormhole guise with the legendary two string hoover bass (Sarah, I believe).

I think I’ve caught a bit where the hoover is switched on, oh yes, Henry does like to keep things clean.

Second on the bill were kerazy pig mask wearing Meat Sweats.
The Meat Sweats sound like this. And look even better (see the video later).
